English Translation
Farewell to Hurayra, for the caravan is departing; Can you truly bear farewell, O man? Radiant and graceful, her features finely shaped, She walks softly, like one treading carefully through wet ground. Her passage from her neighbor’s house Is like a drifting cloud, neither slow nor hurried. You hear the whisper of her ornaments when she turns, Like a rustling plant stirred by the wind. She is not one whose appearance displeases her neighbors, Nor does she pry into a neighbor’s secrets. She would almost fall, were it not for her composure, When she rises languidly to visit her neighbors. When she embraces her companion for a while, she grows faint, And the fullness of her back and hips gently sways. Her form fills the sash while her garment hangs loose, And when she moves, her slender waist seems almost to bend. Hurayra has turned away from us, though we spoke together; In ignorance, whom will Umm Khalid now choose to join?
